I Want To Be a Fly On the Wall
While many view the fly as a symbol of evil, plague and pestilence, the Ancient Egyptians considered the fly protection against misfortune. Queen Ahhotep's two sons gifted her with a fly necklace in gratitude for her support during the struggle for liberation against the Hyksos. This later became known as the 'order of the golden fly' (or 'fly of valour') and was awarded as a military decoration for bravery in battle. (Not bad for a pesky insect best known for living in trash and laying eggs in poop!)
